Training

On Tuesday, April 18 and Wednesday, April 19, 2017, we are offering a variety of classroom training classes that cover beginning, intermediate and advanced user levels. FM:Systems consultants lead the training in a classroom setting, and you’ll have the opportunity to meet other users of FM:Systems products. All attendees receive training manuals with excellent examples, challenging exercises, and tips and tricks to help you succeed faster.

Please be aware that training classes fill up quickly due to classroom sizes and are offered on a first come basis.

Class Descriptions

Introduction to FM:Interact

This session is for FM:Interact users who are new to the product and want to gain a basic understanding of capabilities and how to navigate their way through the system.

Course Level: Beginner
Intended Audience: Anyone new to FM:Interact, especially those who have not used the system before and who will be expected to use/administer the system in the future.

Building Dashboards in FM:Interact

Learn how to create, manage and assign FM:Interact Dashboards. Learn how to create FM:Interact Dashboard templates, design Dashboards by adding pre-made elements, and how to assign and use Dashboards as role, module, site or building homepages.

Course Level: Intermediate
Intended Audience: Users who are responsible for creating or maintaining Reports, Dashboards, or Homepages in FM:Interact. Students should have completed the “Content for Dashboards” course or already be comfortable creating simple HTML pages and ad-hoc reports using Report Builder version 1.

Tables, Views and Fields Part 1

So you want to expand the functionality of FM:Interact with new tables and views. How do you do that? This hands-on course focuses on the relationship between tables, fields and views, and how the relationship impacts what a user can see and do in FM:Interact. During this course you will create a new table, an associated view and even queries based on the new table!

Course Level: Advanced
Intended Audience: Users who are responsible for maintaining the FM:Interact application and who wish to configure new and existing data fields and Views in the system. Participants should have a minimum of six months’ experience as an FM:Interact Administrator.

Tables, Views and Fields Part 2

This course continues building your knowledge and skills for creating table relations (one to many and many to many), creating and modifying the behavior of views and fields and the impact on what a user can see and do in FM:Interact. Learn how to create field dependencies for “sub-category values.” Discover how to create and use Child Views. Learn how to use MS SQL Views to display calculated values in your FM:Interact Views, such as “Chargeback Amount” in Room List View.

Course Level: Advanced
Intended Audience: Users who are responsible for maintaining the FM:Interact application and who wish to configure new and existing data fields and Views in the system. Participants should have a minimum of six months’ experience as an FM:Interact Administrator. This class builds on concepts presented in Tables, Views and Fields Part 1, therefore participants should have completed Tables, Views and Fields Part 1 prior to this class.

Scenario Planning

You need to reconfigure a floor to gain more workstations. How do you evaluate your options and choose the best solution? Using the Scenario Planning module, space planners can evaluate multiple options to resolve a space occupancy problem. The process is iterative and, by creating and modifying various scenarios, space planners can refine and optimize scenario projects. Attend this hands-on session to work through a scenario. This class will also be discussing new features released in scenario planning including doing scenarios by head count.

Course Level: Intermediate
Intended Audience: Current FM:Interact version 8.x space planners or administrators who would like to start using the Scenario Planning module. Participants should already be familiar with the FM:Interact version 8.x application and AutoCAD/FMCAD.

AutoCAD for FM:Interact

In this introductory course you will learn the requirements using AutoCAD floor plan drawings with FM:Interact. You will learn the features of the FM:Systems AutoCAD Plug In, as well as best practices for polylines, layers, externally referenced files, etc.

Course Level: Beginner
Intended Audience: Users who are new to FM:Interact or current FM:Interact users who want to use AutoCAD drawings with FM:Interact.

Revit for FM:Interact

In this introductory course you will learn the requirements for integrating Revit models with FM:Interact, how to prepare Revit models and the functions of the FM:Systems Revit Plug-In. Note this course assumes the user has a basic knowledge of the Revit application.

Intended Audience: Users who are new to FM:Interact or current FM:Interact users who want to use Revit models with FM:Interact.

What’s New in FM:Interact 8.5

This class will cover a variety of new features in version 8.5.x that allow for greater control and customization of your data. Learn about the new configurable navigation bar, auditing, scheduling graphic reports, …and much more.

Asset Management

If you have FM:Interact, then you already have the Asset Management Module. If you are not yet taking advantage of the features this module offers, this class will show you how. Learn how to manage Asset Catalogs and Inventories in FM:Interact. Learn how to assign assets to spaces and employees. Walk through exercises linking asset blocks in your drawings to items in your inventory. Explore the advantages and drawbacks to each method of Asset Management so you can make the best decision for how to manage assets in your organization.

Course Level: Intermediate
Intended Audience: FM:Interact users who are familiar with the FM:Interact product and who want to start using the Asset Management Module. Basic familiarity with AutoCAD/FMCAD and the FM:Interact AutoCAD plug-in is needed to complete portions of this class concerned with managing assets through AutoCAD/FMCAD.

Facility Maintenance

Looking to get more out of your Facilities Maintenance Module? This session will cover some advanced topics not usually covered in the Facilities Maintenance course including configuring Preventative Maintenance tasks, managing Service Centers, modifying Service Request routing, updating Categories and Activities, as well as other settings. This class will also be covering new features in the Facility Maintenance module including upgrades to preventative maintenance and more.

Course Level: Intermediate
Intended Audience: FM:Interact Administrators who are familiar with the FM:Interact product and Facilities Maintenance Module and who want to configure or expand their current maintenance workflow or Preventative Maintenance schedules.

Space Reservation

This course Introduce the Hoteling and Room Scheduling modules, describe several use cases and walks students through completing the most common tasks a user would perform with the Space Reservation Module.

Intended Audience: FM:Interact users and administrators who will be responsible for making or managing space reservations.

Move Management

Looking to get more out of your Move Management Module? This session will cover some advanced topics not usually covered in the Move Management course including configuring department approvers and move planners as well as modifying and managing your move types, move reasons, statuses, and other settings.

Intended Audience: FM:Interact Administrators who are familiar with the FM:Interact product and Move Management Module and who want to configure or expand their current workflow.

Email Notification Services

You’re running FM:Interact with notifications. At implementation the email notifications sent out by the system met your organizational needs. Times have changed, and now your notifications need to change. This hands-on session presents the basics of notification services as well as the processes and steps to update and enhance email notifications.

Course Level: Intermediate
Intended Audience: FM:Interact Administrators who are responsible for maintaining FM:Interact notifications.

SQL Views for Notifications

Would you like to refine the data, change the format, or add calculated results to your notifications? Learn how to create SQL Views for use in FM:Interact Notification.

Course Level: Advanced
Intended Audience: FM:Interact Administrators who are responsible for maintaining notifications. A general understanding of databases and a basic knowledge of SQL commands such as the SELECT statement is expected. A general understanding of FM:Interact tables, fields, and table relationships is helpful to get the most out of this course.

SQL Views for Reporting

Learn how to create SQL views and psuedo tables for use of the new FMx Reporting tool that combine data from multiple source tables, reformat data for display, or create calculated values. SQL views are used when the source data already exists in the system but needs to be manipulated to get the most value. You’ll walk through exercises to create the SQL views in the database, add them to FM:Interact, and finally integrate them into existing FM:Interact Views.

Course Level: Advanced
Intended Audience: FM:Interact Administrators who are responsible for maintaining FM:Interact Data Dictionary. A general understanding of databases and a basic knowledge of SQL commands such as the SELECT statement is expected. A general understanding of FM:Interact tables, fields, and table relationships is helpful to get the most out of this course.

FMx Reporting

FM:Interact version 8.5 introduces FMx Reporting, a web based report building tool allowing end users the ability to design and schedule their own reports. In this intermediate course we’ll move beyond the Express Report Wizard and show how to take your reports to the next level using the Standard Report Designer. In addition we’ll look at report management features such as promoting and setting permissions for reports.
