Communicating the value of IWMS to your CIO

Reading Time: 2 minutes

This is a continuation of my previous blog post, “Communicating the value of IWMS to your CFO” where I discussed how to talk about the value of an Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) specifically to your CFO. Today I am going to continue my blog series where I am discussing each level of the C-Suite and how their varying opinions of the health and success of their organization can prepare you to have informed discussions when explaining the value of a facility management solution.

The second member of the C-Suite I will talk about is the Chief Information Officer (CIO).

What your CIO Needs to Know

The biggest thing that CIO’s are concerned about is security breaches within their organization. According to the Ponemon Institute’s 2012 study, incidents of data breaches cost U.S. companies an average of $194 per compromised customer record and the per-incident costs averaged $5.5 million. With attacks becoming more frequent, opportunistic and sophisticated, organizations are beginning to increase their security mechanisms, especially those in the technology sector.

CIO’s are extremely cautious when implementing new technology within their organization and are also wary of the time commitment and resources needed on their end. Facility management companies are aware of this hesitation—they recognize that organizations IT resources should be focused on building their own business and not worrying about Web hosting and managing servers. Allowing the facility management company to host your solution offers a tremendous amount of benefits including ensuring the safety and security of your data—eliminating the need for your IT department. Giving your CIO the peace of mind of knowing their data will be safe and secure while not requiring any IT resources can help you gain their buy-in for a facility management solution.

We have a lot of great statistics and information about CIO’s priorities within their organization—download our full C-Suite guide to learn about what your CIO needs to know.
Next week I’ll be back to talk about how to present an IWMS solution to your Chief Operating Officer (COO).
